These are just some of the reasons to do massage on your own dog:
Decrease blood pressure, nervousness, and anxiety.
Improve your dogs circulation, joint flexibility, and range of movement.
Promote healthy digestion, healthy skin and coat.
Help relieve pain and promote quicker healing.
Strengthen tendons and ligaments.
Improve the human-animal bond.
It just feels great and your dog will love the massage!

This is a beginners massage class. The class will be about 2 1/2  hours each. This class will be taught by a Certified Small Animal Massage Therapist, Lorna Boydston CVT, CSAMT. Class size will be limited. By the end of both sessions, you will be able to give you dog a full body massage. Total cost of class is $65.00. For more information and to reserve your spot, please contact Lorna at 509-703-7781 or
[email protected]

In this class we will be working on an extensive gait analysis as well as conformation evaluation  of your dog through video and markers. The video will then be reviewed to better determine how your dog makes contact on equipment, how the dog lands on jumps, and how your dog moves. From their we will determine potential problem areas that pertain to your dog,  things you can do to help your dog prevent injury,  or how to improve performance thorough advanced massage strokes, stretching and strengthening, cavaletti, and other exercises. You will receive a CD of your dogs gait analysis.  Completing the beginners massage class is required to enroll in the Canine Sports Massage Class. The class will consist of 3 sessions. Each session will be 2 hours long. Cost of this class is $125.00. Class date and time to be announced.

Ever wonder why you are not winning in the conformation ring?  Think that only professional handlers can win? This is more then a  conformation handling class, learn how to really compete with the  professionals and win. You will need a thick skin for this class as you will need to understand your dog's strengths and weaknesses.

Swim Therapy With Your Dog  - by appointment only
Learn how to provide swim therapy with your dog. You will have a therapist in the pool with you and your dog. The therapist will show you exercises that you can perform with your dog. Swim sessions are geared for the geriatric dog, rehab, or for the sport performance dog. Dogs that are using the pool for rehab must have preauthorization from their vet.
This class is 1:1 with the swim therapist.

Hospice Hydrotherapy Sessions With Your Dog
This is individual only and by appointment only.

When dogs are in hospice care, sometimes there is not much more that can be done other then provide love and comfort. This is a special session that AWC offers for this special kind of dog. The session is private and it is time you spend in the pool with your dog. Most of the time you will just be holding your dog in the warm water therapy pool.  The session is very comforting to the dog and the owner, will help ease pain (physical and mental)  It is a very special indescribable bonding for the dog and owner. Water can have a very profound emotional release and you will feel this with your dog. I promise you , you will not forget the moment. I have had many owners tell me how much they appreciate having a chance to spend time with their dog in this way during the hospice period. It is very healing and heartfelt.

ANIMAL REIKI 1 Certification

MARCH 1 & 2, 2014
Saturday 9am to 5pm
Sunday 10 am to 4pm
To be held at our facility

*Pre-registration is required.

Have you ever wanted to learn the sacred art of Reiki and how to provide physical and emotional well being to animals by channeling a healing energy. Anyone can do this and anyone can learn.
There are 3 levels to Reiki. What you learn in Reiki can be practiced on yourself, other people, as well as animals. We will be practicing on each other as well as animals, but our focus will be on the animals.
Reiki Therapy is a gentle non invasive 'laying on of hands'. It is not a religion and can do no harm. It channels energy to heal physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Rebalancing of energies will occur, thus enabling and enhancing the body to heal in a natural state. Through soft gentle and loving care, I will help by respecting your pets needs and responding intuitively.
Reiki can also help facilitate the animals transition to the other side by providing comfort, relief from pain, fear and anxiety.
Benefits of Reiki Therapy Include the Following:

* Detoxify the system.
* Eliminate energy blockage.
* Relieves tension and stress for deep relaxation
* Increase energy and sense of wellbeing
* Reduce side effects from surgery, and medications.
* Speed recovery and reduce effects of trauma.
* Relief of geriatric conditions.
* Ease pain and suffering.
*Reduce blood pressure.
* Better, more restful sleep.
* Supports immune system.
* Calm the mind and relax muscles. Works well with fearful animals.
* Helps with emotional healing and spiritual growth.

For this workshop you will get your first attunement and will be learning the first of 3 levels or Reiki.
Reiki 1 will include the following:

* What is Reiki and how does it heal?
* Reiki History
* Five Reiki Principles
* Chakras
* Reiki Level 1 Attunement
*Practicing on Self and Others
* Practicing on Animals
* Scanning
* Reiki Meditation Techniques
* A workbook to take with you
* A certificate at the end for Reiki Level 1

Reiki Level 2 and Reiki Level 3 will be taught later in 2014. It is recommended that you spend at least a month or two practicing each level before you move on to the next level.

Cost of Workshop is $185.00 and is limited to no more then 6 people. It includes a workbook, and a book on Animal Reiki by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad
Lunch provided each day. Decaffeinated Coffee and herbal tea, water and snacks. Some breakfast snacks available as well.
